SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s BP Zhuhai plans to shut its 500,000 tonne/year No 1 purified terephthalic acid (PTA) unit at Zhuhai in Guangdong province in the middle of October, a source close to the company said on Friday.

The maintenance will last for 15-20 days and the plant will restart in early November, the source added.

The last maintenance of the plant was in late July because of a power failure caused by typhoon, and the plant restarted in early August.

Meanwhile, BP Zhuhai has settled its PTA contract price of September at yuan (CNY) 8,600/tonne ($1,365/tonne).
