SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Nan Ya Plastics is planning to restart its 200,000 tonne/year 2-ethylhexanol (2-EH) unit at Mailiao in late October following a scheduled turnaround, a source familiar with the matter said on Friday.

The unit was shut in mid-September for annual maintenance and is expected to restart at the end of October, the source said.

There are limited spot cargoes available for the spot market currently, the source added.

Asia’s 2-EH spot prices on 21 September increased by $30-50/tonne (€23-39/tonne) from a week earlier to $1,685-1,730/tonne CFR (cost and freight) East Asia for material that is subject to import duties, according to ICIS data.

For material exempted from import duties, spot prices rose by $40/tonne at the low end from a week earlier to $1,800-1,820/tonne CFR East Asia, the data showed.
