SINGAPORE (ICIS)--JX Nippon Oil & Energy has delayed the restart of its 460,000 tonne/year naphtha cracker at Kawasaki because of unspecified mechanical issues, a company official said on Friday.

The cracker was scheduled to restart on 28 September, following completion of scheduled maintenance that started on 13 August.

No new restart date has yet been set, the official said.

The scheduled restart of the company’s olefins conversion unit (OCU) at the same site on 12 October may be reconsidered, the official said.

The OCU, which can produce around 140,000 tonnes/year of propylene, was taken off line at the beginning of August for maintenance.
