LONDON (ICIS)--INEOS Oxide shut down its French ethylene oxide (EO) unit in Lavera on 26 September following the timely restart of its German EO/ethylene glycol (EG) plant in Cologne, a company source said on Friday.

"It all went according to plan," the source said.

EO at the Lavera site, which has a capacity to produce 220,000 tonnes/year, is scheduled to be shut down for four or five weeks while the upstream ethylene cracker goes down for 8 weeks of maintenance.

A restart on EO will depend on ethylene availability, which may be sourced from the market, the source added.

The Cologne site restarted on 14-15 September and is now running normally, having gone down for maintenance on 25 August.

The plant has a nameplate EG capacity of 150,000 tonnes/year and EO capacity of 285,000 tonnes/year, according to ICIS.
