LONDON (ICIS)--Altana’s BYK Kometra additives business has opened a €7m ($9m) plastics modifier facility at the Schkopau chemical site in Germany’s Saxony-Anhalt state, the German specialty chemicals producer said on Friday.

With the plant, BYK is expanding its capacities for plastics modifiers by about 50%, Altana said. It did not disclose capacities in terms of tonnes per year.

The plastic modifiers are used in the automotive and other industries.

Altana built the facility to meet increasing global demand for high-performance plastic modifiers, it said.
