Saudi Polymers starts full commercial ops at Al Jubail complex

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Saudi Polymers Co has started full commercial operations at its Al Jubail production site on Monday, its parent firm – The National Petrochemical Company (Petrochem) of Saudi Arabia said.

The petrochemical complex can produce 1.16m tonnes/year of ethylene; 1.1m tonnes/year of polyethylene; 400,000 tonnes/year polypropylene (PP); 430,000 tonnes/year of propylene; 200,000 tonnes/year of polystyrene (PS), and; 100,000 tonnes/year of 1-Hexene.

The plant is located in Al Jubail Industrial city, Petrochem said in a filing to the Saudi Stock Exchange on Monday.

“This commercial operations will be reflected in Petrochem’s financials starting from the 4th [fourth] quarter 2012,” said the company, which owns 65% of Saudi Polymers.
