LONDON (ICIS)--Canadian producer Methanex restarted its 1.3m tonne/year plant in Damietta, Egypt, last week, a company source said on Tuesday.

Although the source could not comment on the precise date of the restart, the information was announced to investors on 27 September.

The plant was shut down in late August when its gas supply was cut off by the government following electricity shortages caused by an unusually hot summer.

The Methanex source confirmed investor reports that the plant had been restarted with cooler weather and increasing gas availability.
