HOUSTON (ICIS)--US refiner Motiva has started an investigation into the cause of a fire in a crude distillation unit at its 235,000 bbl/day Convent refinery in Louisiana, the company said on Tuesday.
The fire broke out in the early morning of 1 October and was contained by emergency responders less than an hour later, Motiva said.
“All personnel have been accounted for and there were no injuries resulting from the incident,” Motiva said in a prepared statement. “Fenceline and offsite monitoring indicated no community impact, and there was no impact to other refinery process units.”
Motiva is a 50-50 joint venture between oil and gas majors Shell and Saudi Aramco.
