SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Saudi’s Al Waha Petrochemicals plans to continue to produce homo-grade polypropylene (PP) at 20% capacity at its 450,000 tonne/year PP plant in Al Jubail for the rest of 2012, a source close to the company said on Wednesday.

The remaining 80% capacity is for copolymer-grade PP production, the source said.

The source did not specify the exact date that homo-grade PP production began.

Before its adjustment to begin producing homo-grade PP, Al Waha has been producing solely copolymer-grade PP from January because of better margins in comparison with homo-grade PP.

Al Waha exports homo-grade PP to countries such as Turkey, northern Africa, India and Pakistan, depending on its profitability.
