HOUSTON (ICIS)--KBR will provide the technology for Jiutai Energy’s methanol to olefins (MTO) recovery unit in China, the US-based company said on Wednesday.

The engineering company won a contract to provide the license and process design package to be used in the recovery process of Jiutai’s 600,000 tonnes/year ethylene and propylene unit in Ordos, Inner Mongolia.

The recovery process will take 1.8m tonnes/year methanol to the MTO reactor and convert it before processing it through KBR’s MTO recovery unit to separate ethylene and propylene, the company said.
