Brazil's Copersucar to double bulk sugar loading capacity in Santos

CAMPINAS, Brazil (ICIS)--Brazilian ethanol group Copersucar said on Wednesday it plans to double its loading capacity of bulk sugar at the port of Santos in Sao Paulo to up to 10m tonne/year by April 2014, which is the start of the 2013-2014 sugarcane harvest.

According to the company, around Brazilian reais (R) 125m ($61.8m) is being invested at its Terminal Acucareiro Copersucar (TAC), at the port of Santos, as part of the company's R2bn budget to invest in logistics until 2015, it said. 

Expansion works at the terminal began in June 2011, the company said, adding the first phase of the project should be completed by the first semester of 2013.

The terminal is expected to begin operating by April 2014, and will be completed in the same year, Copersucar added.
