India's Payal Group plans to start up new primary plasticizer unit

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--India’s Payal Group is planning to start up a new 60,000 tonne/year primary plasticizer unit at Dahej by the end of the year, market sources said on Friday.

No further details were immediately available.

The company started operations at its 30,000 tonne/year secondary plasticizer unit located at the same site in the week ended 28 September, they added.

Payal Group is currently running its existing 35,000 tonne/year primary plasticizer unit at full rates, they said. The location of the unit could not be immediately confirmed.

Primary plasticizers produced by Payal Group include dioctyl phthalate (DOP) and di-isononyl phthalate (DINP), while secondary plasticizers are used in blends with primary plasticizers, according to the company’s website.

DOP prices on 28 September were at $1,760-1,830/tonne (€1,355-1,409/tonne) CFR (cost & freight) East Asia, while DINP prices were at $1,790-1,850/tonne FOB (free on board) NE (northeast) Asia, up by $60-100/tonne and $40-70/tonne respectively, from 3 August, according to ICIS data.
