EPCA ’12: S Korea’s Aekyung runs Ningbo plasticizers at 50%

BUDAPEST (ICIS)--South Korea’s Aekyung Petrochemical was running its plasticizer plant at Ningbo in China's Zhejiang province at 50% capacity due to poor market conditions, a company source said on Sunday.

Aekyung Petrochemical had raised the capacity at its plasticizer plant from 150,000 tonnes/year to 200,000 tonnes/year in May this year, the source said on on the sidelines of the 46th annual European Petrochemical Association (EPCA) meeting.

The plant is be able to produce both dioctyl phthalate (DOP) and dioctyl terephthalate (DOTP).

However, the company was running it half the capacity because of poor market conditions, the source added.

The annual EPCA meeting runs from 6-10 October.
