SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Daqing Petrochemical started up its 600,000 tonne/year naphtha cracker and derivative high density polyethylene (HDPE)/linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) swing plants at Daqing City, Heilongjiang province on 6 October, a company source said on Monday.

The company held trial runs at its 250,000 tonne/year HDPE/LLDPE swing plant on 19 August and at its 300,000 tonne/year HDPE/LLDPE swing plant on 13 September.

Furthermore, the company has restarted its 200,000 tonne/year low density polyethylene (LDPE) and 80,000 tonne/year LLDPE plants during Mid-Autumn festival and National Day holiday at the same site after completing its allocation of feedstock supply for the trial runs.

Some market players said that the increased in PE supply from the new start-up will ease the tight supply in China and it may have impact on the market price.
