US nylon 6 domestic prices fall 12.5 cents/lb on costs, demand

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US prices for nylon 6 fell by an average of 12.5 cents/lb ($276/tonne, €213/tonne) because of lower feedstock costs and market demand, sources said on Tuesday.

Nylon 6 injection moulding grade in bulk fell to $1.70-1.96/lb from $1.86-2.11/lb.

The ICIS price assessment for nylon 6 is generally is less fluid than a spot price but less rigid than a contract price.

The prices for package, industrial grade and reinforced 30% glass-filled nylon 6 materials also fell.

In all, prices fell by an average of 12.5 cents/lb.

Suppliers of nylon 6 in the Americas include BASF, Custom Resins, DSM Engineering Plastics, EMS-Grivory (North America), Honeywell, INVISTA, Nylon Corp of America Inc (NYCOA), Rhodia and Shaw.
