LONDON (ICIS)--France’s chemical production fell by 1.3% in August from July, the country’s statistics institute said on Wednesday.

The fall came after a 0.2% drop in July from June,  according to the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE).

France’s overall manufacturing output rose 1.8% in August from July, mainly because of increased production in the transportation equipment sector, the institute said. However, overall manufacturing output was down 1.9% year on year from August 2011.
