LONDON (ICIS)--Novasep plans to invest €30m ($39m) to build the world’s largest chromatography plant for the production of a large-volume commercial active pharmaceutical ingredient (API), the firm said on Wednesday.
The France-based producer of advanced intermediates for the pharmaceutical, crop science and other fine chemical industries, will build the plant at its site in Mourenx, south of ?xml:namespace>
Novasep is making the investment in response to increased demand for its purification-based manufacturing capabilities in the life science industries, it said.
The new plant will “enable the production of a highly purified API from a complex mixture”. Chromatography is a purification and separation technique used in the production of APIs, among other applications, according to information on the company’s website.
