SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Shanghai SECCO Petrochemical is heard to have shut its 300,000 tonne/year linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) line in Jinshan, Shanghai, on 11 October for maintenance, market sources said on Thursday.

The turnaround will last for around 15 days, but market sources said the plant’s shutdown will have little impact on the market because of the short duration.

The LLDPE line operating rate was at 60-70% capacity before the shutdown, market sources said, adding that the Chinese producer will still be able to supply material to its customers in the meantime.

Officials from Shanghai SECCO Petrochemical were not immediately available to comment on the plant shutdown.
