SINGAPORE (ICIS)--?xml:namespace>China's Daqing Petrochemical has started up a new 130,000 tonne/year 2-ethylhexanol (2-EH) plant at Daqing in Heilongjiang province on 11 October, a company source said on Friday.
The company source could not specify the plant's current operating rate immediately.
The start up of the new plant will ease the tight domestic 2-EH supply in China and prices are likely to be stable-to-soft, a market player said.
The spot prices of 2-EH in eastern China were at yuan (CNY) 12,850-12,900/tonne ($2,046-2,054/tonne) ex-tank on 11 October, down by CNY400-450/tonne compared with CNY13,250-13,350/tonne ex-tank on 28 September before the National Day holidays, according to data from Chemease, an ICIS service in China.
