MELBOURNE (ICIS)--South Korea’s Kumho P&B Chemicals shut on 12 October its No 3 phenol/acetone plant in Yeosu for annual maintenance, a company source said on Friday.

The No 3 plant has a nameplate capacity of 250,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 150,000 tonnes/year of acetone.

The company plans to take its No 2 phenol/acetone plant at the same site off line on 13 October for overhaul, the source added.

The No 2 phenol/acetone plant can produce 130,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 80,000 tonnes/year of acetone.

Both plants will stay off line for about three weeks.

The company’s No 1 phenol/acetone plant has been idled since early 2009.
