LONDON (ICIS)--Libya’s National Oil Corporation has restarted one of its two 330,000 tonne/year methanol plants in Marsa El-Brega and has awarded its first sales tender in almost two years, market sources said on Friday.
Although the producer could not be reached for confirmation, the sales tender was confirmed with the buyer. 15,000 tonnes were sold to an Italian buyer for loading in the second half of October. The tender was issued last week and awarded on Monday.
The plants were shut down in February 2011 at the onset of the Libyan civil war.
