HOUSTON (ICIS)--US 2-ethylhexanol (2-EH) exports in August increased by 38% from the same month a year earlier, according to data made available by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Friday.
US 2-EH exports rose to 9,840 tonnes in August from 7,116 tonnes in August 2011.
Exports rose in August mainly because of an increase in exports to China.
August exports also increased from 2,398 tonnes in July.
China at 4,039 tonnes was the major destination for 2-EH exports, followed by Colombia at 2,126 tonnes, Canada at 1,343 tonnes and Chile at 700 tonnes.
Other destinations included Peru, Hong Kong, Brazil, Mexico and Singapore.
The US imported 2,013 tonnes of 2-EH in August, down from 4,382 tonnes in July.
Sources of imports included Germany at 1,883 tonnes, Brazil at 97 tonnes and Taiwan at 33 tonnes.
