HOUSTON (ICIS)--US nylon exports for August were down by 18% year on year, according to the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Friday.
August 2012 exports decreased to 44,576 tonnes from 54,551 tonnes in August 2011, the ITC said.
Year to date, exports of nylon have totalled 410,065 tonnes, a decrease of 4.5% from the same period in 2011.
Top destinations for US nylon exports in August were Mexico, China and Canada.
Imports for August amounted to 7,743 tonnes, up by 18% year on year. Canada, Germany and Italy were the top three points of origin for nylon material imported to the US.
The ITC groups nylon 6, nylon 11, nylon 12, nylon 6,6, nylon 6,9, nylon 6,10 and nylon 6,12 were assessed together in its report.
ICIS provides pricing reports for nylon 6 and nylon 6,6.
US producers of nylon include Ascend Performance Materials, BASF Corp, DuPont, EMS-Grivory, Honeywell, INVISTA, NYCOA and Shaw.
