HOUSTON (ICIS)--US acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) exports for August were up by 11% year on year, according to data released by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) and made available on Friday.
Exports increased to 6,512 tonnes from 5,867 tonnes in August 2011, the ITC said.
Year to date, exports of ABS have totalled 57,513 tonnes, a decrease of 1.9% from the same period in 2011.
Top destinations for US ABS exports in August were Mexico, Canada and China.
Imports amounted to 13,877 tonnes, up by 14% in August year on year.
Taiwan, Korea and Mexico were the top three ports of origin for ABS material imported to the US in August.
For the year to date, 97,137 tonnes have been imported, an increase of 8.2%.
US producers of ABS include INEOS ABS, Network Polymers, SABIC Innovative Plastics and Styron.
