HOUSTON (ICIS)--US diammonium phosphate (DAP) exports in August rose by about 3% from the same month a year earlier, according to the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Friday.

US DAP exports rose to 249,651 tonnes in August from 243,125 tonnes in August 2011.

Exports rose in August mainly because of increased demand from India.

India at 151,952 tonnes was the major destination of US DAP exports, followed by Mexico at 46,300 tonnes and Peru at 16,000 tonnes.

Other destinations included Brazil, Argentina, El Salvador, Colombia, Canada and Panama.
