HOUSTON (ICIS)--US polycarbonate (PC) exports for August were up by 1.7% year on year, according to data made available by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Friday.
Exports increased to 35,478 tonnes from 34,890 tonnes in August 2011, the ITC said.
Year to date, PC exports were 297,815 tonnes, an increase of 14% from the same period in 2011.
Top destinations for US PC exports in August were China, Mexico and Canada.
Imports were 6,725 tonnes in August, up by 78% year on year.
Belgium, Canada and Singapore were the top three ports of origin for PC material imported to the US in August.
For the year so far, 38,629 tonnes have been imported, a year-on-year increase of 17%.
US producers of PC include Bayer MaterialScience, SABIC Innovative Plastics and Styron.
