HOUSTON (ICIS)--The October mixed xylene (MX) contract increased by 18 cents/gal to settle from September to settle at $4.28/gal during the week on the back of tight supply, sources said on Friday.

Trade sources said during the month that US aromatics inventories have been tight because of a delay in imports and a fire at ExxonMobil’s 584,000 bbl/day Baytown refinery in Texas early in the month.

Major US xylene producers include BP, Chevron Phillips, ExxonMobil, Flint Hills and LyondellBasell.
