HOUSTON (ICIS)--US exports of mixtures of 2,4- and 2,6-toluene di-isocyanates (TDI) in August 2012 more than double compared with 2011, according to data made available by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Friday.
TDI exports were 20,036 tonnes from 9,112 tonnes in 2011.
Month on month, exports rose by 57% from 12,778 tonnes in July, the ITC said.
Through August, exports increased by 2% to 99,819 tonnes, compared with 98,300 tonnes in the first eight months of last year, according to the ITC.
The increase from 2011 to 2012 was a result of larger volumes being shipped to Brazil and Canada.
Top destinations for US TDI in 2012 were Belgium (17,866 tonnes), Brazil (16,201 tonnes), Mexico (14,018 tonnes), Canada (10,921 tonnes) and Colombia (5,565 tonnes).
US TDI suppliers are Bayer MaterialScience, BASF and Dow Chemical.
