HOUSTON (ICIS)--Canada-based chemical producer NOVA Chemicals has begun the restart of its cracker in Ontario, a company spokesperson said on Friday.

The company said its 839,000 tonne/year Corunna cracker in Ontario will likely be fully restarted by the start of the next week.

The company said in late September it would shut down the cracker for 3-4 weeks for repairs related to unplanned mechanical issues.

US spot ethylene traded on Friday at 53.5 cents/lb ($1,179/tonne, €908/tonne), down from deals earlier in the week at 55.5 cents/lb.
