Japan September PS output rises 3% from August; up 1% on year

TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s production of polystyrene (PS) in September increased by 3% month on month to 48,183 tonnes, official industry data showed on Monday.

On a year-on-year basis, the PS output last month was up 1%, according to the statistics from the Japan Styrene Industry Association (JSIA).

Domestic PS demand for September rose 10% month on month to 49,151 tonnes, but down by 5% year on year, according to JSIA.

Exports, on the other hand, fell by 44% to 1,082 tonnes from August, and down by 40% year on year, based on the data.
