SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Korea Kumho Petrochemical shut its polystyrene (PS) and acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) units on 15 October for maintenance , a source close to the company said on Tuesday.

The company’s 250,000 tonne/year ABS and 200,000 tonne/year PS units, located in Ulsan, are scheduled to remain shut for 7-10 days, the source said.

“We have no offers to China this week due to the shutdown, but will resume offers in late October,” the source added.

The shutdown is expected to have little impact on the market because the manufacturing for exports season in China has ended and the market has entered a low demand season, according to market participants.

Other major Korean styrenic suppliers include LG Chem and Cheil Samsung.
