SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Chenxi Petrochemical has postponed the start-up of its 50,000 tonne/year phthalic anhydride (PA) plant at Rizhao in Shandong province to November because of delays in power rationing by the local industrial park, a company source said on Wednesday.

The Chinese producer originally planned to start up the PA plant in October, the source added.

The tight supply of PA may be eased following the start-up of the new plant, local distributors said.

The prices of PA in east China were assessed at yuan (CNY) 11,150-11,200/tonne ($1,778-1,786/tonne) ex-tank east China on 16 October, up by CNY300-350/tonne compared with CNY10,800-10,900/tonne on 12 October, according to Chemease, an ICIS service in China.
