LONDON (ICIS)--Fertilizer producer SABIC and India’s Coromandel International Limited (CIL) have agreed a supply contract for 100,000-150,000 tonnes/year of ammonia, the Saudi Arabian company said on Wednesday.

Priced under formula, the deal will see the first shipment of ammonia delivered to CIL’s operations in east coast India in late November or early December.

The agreement comes after Qatari ammonia producer Qafco admitted it was struggling to meet its contract commitments to Indian customers due to production issues at two ammonia plants.

However, Qafco's ammonia plants V and VI are now operating at 80-90% of capacity and the supplier expects availability to improve as it looks to load four cargoes to India next month, totalling around 60,000 tonnes.
