HOUSTON (ICIS)--BP issued a brief evacuation order following a sulphur dioxide leak at its Texas City refinery in Texas but the affected unit continued to operate, a company spokesman said on Wednesday.
An alert was issued at the 400,780 bbl/day refinery and a lower level alert for the surrounding communities, according to local media KHOU.com.
BP spokesman Scott Dean said the leak and resulting evacuation left no one hurt and the “all clear has been sounded”.
“Air monitoring clear outside of refinery and the unit continues to operate,” Dean said.
