RIO DE JANEIRO (ICIS)--Petrobras’ biodiesel sales hit a fresh record in the fourth quarter at around 166.7m litres, 15% higher compared with the third quarter, the Brazilian state-run oil company said on Wednesday.
The company sold 21.7m litres more than the 145m litres in the July-September period, it said in statement.
Petrobras should increase its biodiesel production in the current quarter to attend to domestic demand.
"The third quarter of 2012 was the best [quarter] of our history (...) since the launching of Petrobras Biocombustivel in 2008. We will surpass this milestone in the fourth quarter,” said Miguel Rossetto, president of Petrobras Biocombustivel, in the statement.
Earlier this month, Petrobras announced it hit a record daily biodiesel output of 2m litres.
