SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Saudi Arabia’s non-oil exports fell by 22.7% year on year to Saudi riyals (SR) 10.8bn ($2.88bn) in August this year, weighed by the drop in petrochemical shipments abroad, official data showed on Thursday.

The country’s petrochemical exports fell by 29% year on year to SR3.1bn in August this year, according to data by the Central Department of Statistics and Information.

Its shipments of plastics rose marginally by 0.5% year on year to SR4.34bn, the department said.

Plastics accounted for 40.3% of Saudi Arabia’s overall non-oil exports, while petrochemicals captured 28.9% of overall non-oil shipments, it said.

The bulk of all non-oil exports from Saudi Arabia went to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), followed by China and Singapore, the department added.
