SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korea’s Honam Petrochemical Co (HPC) shut its 50,000 tonne/year methyl methacrylate (MMA) plant in Yeosu on Thursday because of troubles at the unit’s reactor, a company source said.

The plant is expected to be down for five days, the source said.

The unit just had a scheduled maintenance on 9-16 October, the source said.

Production loss from the unplanned five-day shutdown is estimated at about 1,000 tonnes, the company source said.
