SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical plans to restart one of the two lines at its 700,000 tonne/year naphtha cracker in Jinshan, Shanghai within the second half of November following a 30-40 day turnaround, sources close to the company said on Wednesday.

The 300,000 tonne/year line was shut on 15 October for a 30-40 day turnaround whereas the other 400,000 tonne/year line is running normally during this period, they said.

Ethylene spot prices rose by $20.00-30.00/tonne (€15.40-23.10/tonne) to $1,330-1,380/tonne CFR (cost & freight) northeast (NE) Asia during the week ended 19 October. Sporadic deals and discussions were taking place at the high end of the range in China for November arrival cargoes amid supply concerns.
