SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Hebei Shenghua Chemical is currently running its newly expanded 350,000 dry metric tonnes (dmt)/year caustic soda plant in Zhagnjiakou, Hebei, at full capacity, a company source said on Wednesday.

The unit, which originally had a capacity of 150,000 dmt/year, started commercial production on 22 October, the source said.

The company now has the biggest caustic soda capacity in Hebei province, the source added.

The producer offered 48% liquid membrane caustic soda at yuan (CNY) 2,600/tonne ($416/tonne) on 24 October, according to Chemease, an ICIS service in China.

The company sells its caustic soda to downstream alumina factories in the Shanxi and Inner Mongolia regions, the source said.
