SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Formosa Plastics Corp (FPC) plans to shut its 160,000 tonne/year crude acrylic acid (AA) plant at Ningbo in eastern China for annual maintenance in end-November, a company source said on Wednesday.
The company plans to restart the unit in the first-half of December, the source said.
According to market sources, supply will further tighten in the near term following a shortage of offers heard in the market because of the recent incident at Nippon Shokubai’s Himeji facility.
Other key producers of crude AA in the region include Malaysia’s BASF-Petronas, Japan’s Nippon Shokubai and South Korea’s LG Chem.
