MELBOURNE (ICIS)--South Korea’s Kumho P&B Chemicals plans to restart its No 2 and No 3 phenol/acetone plants in Yeosu at the end of October after completing annual maintenance for the units, a company source said on Thursday.

The two plants were shut separately on 12-13 October, so the restart should be one day apart, the source said.

The company on 12 October took its No 3 phenol/acetone plant, which has a nameplate capacity of 250,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 150,000 tonnes/year of acetone, off line for overhaul.

Its No 2 phenol/acetone plant at the same site, which can produce 130,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 80,000 tonnes/year of acetone, was shut on 13 October.

The company’s No 1 phenol/acetone plant has been idle since early 2009.
