SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China's Golmud Zangge Potassium Fertilizer Co Ltd is planning to start up its new 800,000 tonne/year muriate of potash (MOP) or potassium chloride unit Qinghai province at the end of the month, a company source said on Thursday.

The new plant, which will increase the company’s total MOP capacity to 1.5m tonnes/year, is only expected to start commercial production early next year, the source said.

China’s MOP producers usually shut their facilities in November and December, according to a market player.

Golmud Zangge Potassium Fertilizer is the second largest domestic MOP producer in China.
