SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Henan Shunda Chemical has shut its 400,000 tonne/year acetic acid plant at Zhumadian in Henan on 23 October for maintenance, following a mechanical problem at the unit, a company source said on Thursday.

The maintenance will last about one week and the company will be selling stocks from their inventory during this period, the source added.

Prior to the shutdown, the plant was operating at about 95% of capacity, the source said.

Major acetic acid producers in China include Celanese, BP YPC Acetyls Co (Byaco), Jiangsu Sopo, Shanghai Wujing Chemical, and Yankuang Cathay.
