MEDELLIN, Colombia (ICIS)--LyondellBasell declared force majeure (FM) on ethylene oxide (EO) produced at its Bayport plant in Texas, sources in the market said on Thursday.

LyondellBasell declined to comment.

Participants in the ethylene glycol (EG) market expect feedstock EO to remain snug amid production issues along the US Gulf coast.

EO is primarily used in the production of EG, which is in turn used to make polyester and antifreeze.

The Lyondell plant in Bayport has a capacity of 360,000 tonnes/year of EO, according to ICIS plants and projects.
