Argentina’s September chemical production falls 1.9% year on year

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Argentina’s September chemical production was down by 1.9% year on year, industry sources said on Thursday.

Production of basic chemical products rose by 0.9% in September compared with the same time last year, said Argentina’s Statistics Institute (INDEC). The institute does not provide tonnage figures for production.

Production of industrial gases was up by 8.5%, the group said.

Production of plastic raw materials and synthetic rubber was down by 5.8%.

Agrochemicals production declined by 1.6% in September, while production of pharmaceutical products went up by 1.5%.

Production of detergents, soaps and personal products declined in September by 12.0%.

Meanwhile, plastic products and rubber tyres production combined increased by 4.9%.

Rubber tyre production was up by 24.2%, while September production of plastic products increased by 1.3%, INDEC said.
