SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Sinopec Baling is planning to shut its 60,000 tonne/year polybutadiene rubber (BR) plant for maintenance at Yueyang, Hunan province, in the near term, a company source said on Tuesday.

"We are planning to shut the plant because of poor market conditions,” the source said, adding that the plant is currently running at 67% of capacity.

However, the source did not specify the shutdown date or the duration of the shutdown.

"The shutdown may have little impact on the market because of its small capacity and low run rates at the plant," a market player said.
