China’s methanol imports fall by 13% in September

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s methanol import volume in September decreased by 13% month on month because of tight supply from southeast Asia, industry sources said on Tuesday.

China imported 368,803 tonnes of methanol in September, down by 13% month on month, at an average of $365.86/tonne (€281.71/tonne), according to China Customs.

The imports from Malaysia decreased to 12,700 tonnes in September, down by 79% month to month.

The import data showed that 143,161 tonnes of methanol were imported from Iran, which account for about 39% of China’s total import volume in September.
