UpdateFire starts at hydrotreating unit at BP's Texas refinery

HOUSTON (ICIS)--A fire started in a hydrotreating unit at the BP refinery in Texas City, Texas, the company said on Tuesday.

The fire was reported at 1330 Houston time (1830 GMT) in the 500 section of the resid hydrotreating unit, the company said.

No injuries were reported, BP said.

“We can expect large amounts of smoke and for the fire to continue for an unknown period of time,” the Texas City Office of Emergency Management said in an automated message.

The Texas City Fire Department is at the scene.

BP’s Texas City refinery has a capacity of 475,000 bbl/day.
