HOUSTON (ICIS)--US acetic acid export prices rose by $5/tonne (€4/tonne) during the past week on higher feedstock costs, buyers said on Tuesday.

The increase brought acetic acid spot prices to $585-630/tonne FOB (free on board), buyers said.

Contract prices for feedstock US methanol made a huge jump in October on supply issues in Trinidad and Egypt, with contract prices rising by an average of 14 cents/gal last week, to 145-148 cents/gal.

Major US acetic acid sellers include BP, Eastman Chemical and Celanese.
