MELBOURNE (ICIS)--Mitsui Phenol Singapore, a unit of Japan’s Mitsui Chemicals, will increase its first-half November acetone ex-tank price to $1,040/tonne (€801/tonne) ex-tank in Singapore, said a company source on Wednesday.

Its acetone price will be $10/tonne higher than the price of $1,030/tonne ex-tank in the second half of October. The company announces its acetone price twice monthly.

The gains in acetone prices in the leading China market in October, together with firm upstream benzene and propylene costs, prompted Mitsui Phenol Singapore’s decision for the price increase, the source added.

The company will roll over its October phenol price of $1,560/tonne ex-tank Malaysia into November, the source said. Its phenol price is announced on a monthly basis.

Mitsui Phenol Singapore operates a phenol/acetone plant, which can produce 300,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 180,000 tonnes/year of acetone, at Jurong Island in Singapore.

The company also operates a 230,000 tonne/year bisphenol-A (BPA) plant at the same site.
